FOCUS: SOME SALIENTS TRUTHS ABOUT GOD’S GLORY
2Co 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
1Co 15:40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 1Co 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 1Co 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 1Co 15:43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 1Co 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
Introduction: As it has been established by the Scriptures in 1 Cor. 2:9-11 that the glory of God is something that cannot actually be intellectually defined but can be spiritually described. It is something that is deeper beyond any human sense. Therefore, we shall be looking at some salient truths about the glory of God today and it is my prayer that the glory of God shall be revealed in us, in Jesus’ Name.
A. SOME SALIENT TRUTHS ABOUT GOD’S GLORY
We need to be aware and know that:
1. God is the God of glory. Psa.29:3; Psa.57:5,11
Psa 29:3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
Psa 57:5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. Psa 57:11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
2. God is the King of glory no one else. Psa.24:7-10
Psa 24:7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Psa 24:8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Psa 24:9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Psa 24:10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
3. God is the glory of all His Saints. Psa.3:3
Psa 3:3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4. Every true believer is a carrier of God’s glory. 2 Cor.3:18
2Co 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
5. God doesn’t share the glory that is due unto His name. Psa.29:2; Isa.42:8 (Ref. 1 Sam.5:1-5, Ark of God vs Dagon Illustration)
Psa 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Isa 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
6. There is nothing that adds beauty to a believer’s life like the glory of God. Isa.28:5
Isa 28:5 In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
7. The glory of God is the solution to the shame and reproach of man inherited through Adam’s disobedience. Isa.43:7
Isa 43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
8. The glory of God is a reward and rereward for your faith in God. John 11:40; Isa.58:8.
Joh 11:40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Isa 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall
spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the
LORD shall be thy rereward.
9. No light or darkness has capacity to outshine or overcome the glory of God. Isa.60:1,2,19; John 1:5
Isa 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. Isa 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. Isa 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
10. The glory of God produces power. Anywhere the glory appears, the power of God is present. That’s the secret of Matt.6:13.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
11. No place commands the presence of God like a place where His glory has manifested or is being revealed. Eze.10:4
Eze 10:4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’S glory.
12. The glory of God is life, so nothing is so pathetic like the departure of God’s glory in the life of someone (IKABOD). 1 Sam.4:21-22
1Sa 4:21 And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. 1Sa 4:22 And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.
13. God expects His children to declare His glory at all times. Psa.96:3,8
Psa 96:3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.
Psa 96:8 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and
come into his courts.
Conclusion: One of the most important things we need to know is that the glory of God is not something to play with or handle with levity. 2 Cor.3:18 “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
Hallelujah!
